Summer Of Colour 2015: Purple, Purple, Yellow

Another super quick post this week!  I have fallen further behind than I would have liked this week but at least I got it done before Monday :-P  I was looking forward to using these colours, they are the kinds of colours I love!  I decided to do a mandala crossed with a zentangle type thing!

This is it basically finished.  I think it might need a little tweaking but I haven't decided yet :-P I possibly should have used a more vivid purple with the black swirls but overall I'm pretty pleased with it!  I used Derwent Inktense pencils.  I'm new to using them but so far I really love them!

Anyway I really have to dash!  I look forward to seeing every ones amazing work this week :-)

Summer of Colour week 2: pink pink orange

Another quick post from me today!  I had high hopes for the pink, pink, orange week as they are the kind of colours I love!  I went for a bit of experiment...hmmm one I like, one not so much :-P

I bought some new Pebeo mixed media paints to play with.  For those of you who haven't heard of pebeo they are paints that react when you put them on to canvas and other materials.  They also react with each other!  Honestly, that is a terrible description of them...if you would like some actual proper information then click Here you can also look on youtube for some really good tutorials!  I'm still getting used to them, they react in an unpredictable way so you can't really have a firm idea in your mind because it probably won't work out like that!

I like the top one, that worked out quite well! I painted the canvas board with pink UV paint (it's soooo pink) and then just added my pebeo stuff on top to see what happened!  I have to admit I'm not very good with the stuff yet, I either add too much or not enough and I'm not getting the cool effects the youtube tutorial people are :-P It's a start though and I'm just going to have more of a play around until I get used to it!

Summer of Colour 2015 - Blue, Blue, Green.

This is a super short post today, I'm just hopping in to post my Summer of Colour 2015 piece and will come back later to have a nose at everyone else's amazing work!

I decided to do something super simple this week to ease myself in, plus I had one of THOSE weeks and just wanted something to take my mind off it all!

I used Sharpies, Gelly roll pens and a micron pen for the outline.  I'm not entirely sure if this looks anything like I had planned but I'm pleased with the colours!  I was hoping for a zentangle sort of look but it was hard to doodle detail with the sharpies :-P

So that's it for now, I can't wait to see the next colour combo!  I really enjoyed this, I find swirly doodles help me relax :-P

It turns out I like lilac a bit.

So this is just a quick stop in to say hello and show you some of the baby booties and hat's I've been working on!  I'm hoping to have a wide selection of styles and sizes come the autumn/winter ready to go in my shop!

Everything is a bit lilac and purple at the moment :-P I was working with the yarn I had left over.  Although I did buy the fancy one at the bottom, clearly I am drawn to purples!  The bottom one kind of reminds me of a painted Easter egg.  We used to have competitions in school where you would get a hard boiled egg and paint it and the winner would get a chocolate Easter egg as a prize!  They were good days.  Any colour suggestions you may have are very welcome, might help me get away from the usual colours I am drawn too :-P

The only other thing I have to say is SUMMER OF COLOUR IS HERE Hurrah!  I am quite excited about it in case you couldn't tell!

Summer of Colour 4 Week 6.....

I can't believe it is the last cumber of colour now, I've really enjoyed getting back in to it (even though I spend most of the weeks moaning about myself :-P) and I'll deffo be doing it again if it is here next year :-)

I've actually had my piece done for a few days but I've just not had a chance to write this post! I'm not even sure if I'm technically on time to count but ah wells! I've been trying to join some of your wonderful Blogs so I can follow what you are doing but at the moment Google Friend Connect just won't let me.....sometimes technology REALLY annoys me!

The colours this week where raspberry, Tangerine and Lemon.....I was so pleased with these colours, they make me very happy! I decided to get my sketchbook out (it had dust on it, and I found my old drawings from the last time I did Summer of Colour way back when :-P) Anyway I decided to do something that I LOVE doing....Sugar Skulls :-D

And here he is! I love him, I am genuinely very pleased with this :-) Do you think I should outline the skull a bit more? Maybe with black? Either way I think the colour balance came out just as I wanted it (mainly raspberry and tangerine with a bit of yellow!).

I mainly used my pencils again but I also added some bits with my Sakura Gelly Roll pens! I probably could have added more but I thought it was best to step back before I go to mad haha!

So there you have it, I managed to get all 6 weeks done! Hurrah! I've made it my mission to get back in to my art more! I used to love art (still do really), had big plans to go to uni etc etc, somewhere along the way I got lost and I stopped doing art altogether! Now I'm in that place where I don't think I'm very good and I haven't found my style or groove yet! 

Now I'm off to look at all your fab work and hopefully (fingers crossed) get to follow the Blogs I really want to! Wish me luck!!

Short but Sweet Summer of Colour Week 5

Hello to you all! I am literally just hopping in and out to post my summer of colour piece for this week! I have been working none stop on my most ambitious scarf design to date and I'm very excited about it!

This weeks colours were red, dark blue and light blue (I can't actually recall the shade of dark blue but I think you probably all know what I mean!). I ADORE these colours but sadly my piece did not live up to the great ideas I had! I used pencils but the paper was too rough, I mush prefer smooth paper! Also It was looking good until i added extra red in it and now it makes the eyes go funny...oh well onwards and upwards!

And here I am hiding behind what is technically a ATC! I shall have a nose around all your lovely work tomorrow, I'm excited to see what has been done with these lovely colours!!

Big ideas......(Summer of Colour 3 week 3)

Hi Guys!

So this weeks summer of colour colours are pink, apple green and a bit of forest green.....oh I was happy about this!! These are colours that I could most definitely work with......or were they?

It all started well enough, I had my idea I just had to go for it...and go for it I did! I really should have planned it out more then I would have realised that A) my piece would be more green than pink which is not what I wanted and B) The medium I was using wasn't quite right for what I was using it on!!

I genuinely can not decide if I like this or not!! One minute I think yeah it's great the next I'm all like nook it's supposed to be PINK! I've been putting off painting this thing through fear of ruining it (I have a lot of fears about that sort of thing!) and ow I'm like ugh!

The close up of it is a little better! Damn you green for being too....green? haha! Well anyway i used my Posca paint pens on this bad boy. Which was a great idea until i realised all my pens are quite thick tipped as I usually paint vinyl toys with them.  I had to use all my powers of concentration not to get pink on green and green on pink! It needs some touch ups too....if I ever get a thinner pen in these colours I am so on it!

Anyway I hope you enjoyed stopping by my little Blog! I'm off now, I have about a million things to do today and I'm going to a lampshade making class tonight! Before that I have to finish knitting a commission for someone (shhh its a secret) busy busy busy......

Summer of Colour 4 (week 3)

Hello again :-)

I can't believe we have been doing this for 3 weeks already!! It's been good so far, seeing everyone else lovely work! I love going to each page and seeing how creative everyone is!!

This week the colours were plum, lavender and grey.....these are more my kind of colours!! Purple is one of my faves along with red! I love anything brightly coloured!!  So the challenge for this week was to choose what to actually do with the colours!!

I've had this little guy sitting in my art stash for a while! To be honest I forgot about him for a bit but I found him when I moved again this year! I thought what better time than to try and give him a make over than now?!? I decided to use Gaudi as my inspiration again (I do love his work) and drew out a pattern of mosaic style squares on the piggy!

I had to mix the colours myself, which I have to be honest I'm not great at.  I just mixed a lot of blue and red together to get the plum then added white to that to get the lavender colour.

Strangely enough it was the grey I had most trouble with! At first it was too dark and then it was too light.  I finally finished with this shade although I'm not 100% happy with it as it feel alike it has an odd blue tinge too it. I don't know if this is because of the colours it is next to or because I didn't prime him first!! 

Overall I'm pretty pleased with how he looks apart from the odd blue/grey grout colour :-P I even used a darker grey on his eyes so that I stuck completely to the colour scheme.  I'm off now to have a nose at all the lovely stuff that has been posted already....see you there!

P.S As you can see i have bright red glasses and lime green nails.....bright colours are definitely my thing!

Summer of Colour 4 (Week 2)

Hello everyone! Week 2 of Summer of Colour is upon us and this weeks colours were coral, teal and a splash of white! I must admit coral is not one of my fave colours.  I don't mind it on my nails, although it just highlights how pale I am haha.  But in every day life, not so much! Now teal I can deal with.  I love the colour teal, I'd quite like to do my bathroom in teal :-P

So this week I was determined to finish a little earlier as I get very stressed if I leave things until the last minute.  This goes for pretty much every aspect of my life not just the summer of colour!  I wasn't too sure what medium to use this time.  There was no way I could do knitting or crochet as I have NONE of the colours needed...not even the white haha! At first I thought paint, i'd mix my own colours....honestly though I didn't feel I had the time this week.  Then wax crayons came to mind but I couldn't find the right colours.  This left me with pencils.  I was quite happy to work with pencils but as I was looking for my pencil sharpener I came upon my sharpies.......SHARPIES!

I adore sharpies! They come in so may lovely colours and are so bright and just generally make me happy.  So sharpies it is then.

Ta-Da.....looking at it now my coral is a bit orangey and my teal a bit greeny and the white is more than a splash.....ok ok I shall stop focussing on the negatives!! This bad boy comes from a really cool colouring book (yes I did say colouring book and yes I am 30!) I got from Barcelona.  It's full of mandalas designed using the work of Gaudi.  Now I LOVE Gaudi and I LOVE colouring, perfect match!

The book is cool because it has little snippets of information about lots of the buildings Gaudi designed.  Thinking about it I should have taken a photo of what the Mandala looked like before I coloured it in! Ooopps!

I added some highlights and little bits here and there with my Gelly Roll pens.  I've not really had a chance to use them before so this seemed like as good a time as any.

Summer Of Colour 4 Week 1

Heeelllloooo everyone!!

So it was the first week of Summer of colour! I was soooo excited to start this year and I'm so glad I decided to play as I'm having great fun already!!

The first colours that were chosen were Aqua Blue, Yellow pink! I LOVE bright colours so this was like a dream come true for me! I was totally ready to get stuck in only for this week to be one of the busiest weeks I've ever had!! It was getting on in the week and I still hadn't started EEK! Then i realised some crochet Grannie squares I had been working on were Aqua blue and a plan started to form............

I've been teaching myself to crochet recently! It's going pretty well but I now have about  a million granny squares with slight defects hanging around the place :-P I might make them in to a blanket just for fun so i can remember how terrible I was at it! Anyway, I decided I would use my granny squares for my first summer of colour! Sadly i didn't have any yellow wool on me so I had to improvise....

Ta-DA.....I have to be honest it's not the greatest thing I've ever done but by the time I got to the pink square I was actually producing granny squares without mistakes! Go me!!

I have a lot less things to do next week so hopefully my contribution will be a bit better!! Now I'm off to go practise some more crochet and have a nose at all the other lovely (and much better) contributions to The Summer Of Colour :-)

Fimo Fimo everywhere!

Hello Everyone!

So today I decided to have a play with my Fimo! I haven't done this in so long because it can be a bit fiddley so you need to be in the right frame of mind for it!! I won't tell you what I did, I'll just put the photos up and see what you think!!

This is what I started with.....I won't ask you to guess just yet! I used this handy tool I bought to get the nice flat circle so I was quite pleased at this point!!

I feel like it is quite obvious now! Well I hope its as obvious as I think!! I added the ears and the little bit of hair, this was very VERY fiddley!! 

Next I added the pink bits! The nose and inside of the ears! I made the pink by mixing a dark pink with some white! That is what I love about Fimo, it's so versatile!!

The last bits to do were the eyes, mouth and scarf! I'm not too pleased with the eyes (should have done some details) and the mouth is a bit think but all in all he looks pretty cute to me! Can you guess what he is now??

You bake the fimo for about 30 mins depending on your oven and how big it is etc but you must keep checking on it! I once left a Fimo lollipop in there too long and it went completely brown!! 

Here he is after baking! Hopefully I left him in long enough! He is currently sitting drying out properly! I'm hoping to make him in to a brooch so fingers crossed for that!!

I'm also very excited because tomorrow is the first day of Summer of Colour 4 and I literally CAN NOT WAIT! I have so many ideas this time!! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's stuff too! 

So let the summer of colour commence!!!

Summer Of Colour 4!

So it's been quite a while since I blogged.  Those of you who follow my other Blog will know why this is, for those of you who are interested here is the link to my other Blog Little Red Crafting Corner.  I've had a very difficult few years now but I'm hoping that things are finally on the up!

A few years a go I took part in the Summer Of Colour Blog event.  It's so much fun to do and a great way to make new friends and see some fabulous art which is always a plus for me! Basically you are given a colour and a week to make a piece of art incorporating the chosen colour.  You then post it on your Blog and post the link on the main page and then you visit everyone Else's pages! I think I'm making it sound far more complicated than it is!

This years Summer of Colour is about to start and I am determined to take part this year! I have to thank my wonderful friend Carmen (Whoopidooings) for reminding me that this event is happening! I still have days where things are a little tough but I hope having something to focus on will help me.

I plan to try and use new mediums this time around! Why not go a little crazy! I'm still quite scared to try new things in case i do it wrong but I want to be more like Bob Ross

I'm late, I'm late for a very important date (Summer of Colour)

I'm so late this week!! I have a million things to knit which seems to be taking up most of my time at the moment! I have two birthday presents that I really need to get a move on with!! I finally managed to find some time to sit down and think about what I was going to do for week four!! I LOVED the colours so there was no problem there! But I really wanted to to do something different each week!! So I thought and I thought and then I had a brain wave!!

On one of the lovely Blogs I've commented on during this summer of colour I have seen some really lovely zentangle style drawings! I'm really really sorry but I can't think of the name of the Blog just now!! When I do I will come back and link to it, or if you are reading this and you know it's you let me know :-P They usually do the zentangles in animal shapes which is just so damn cool! It might not even have been an actual zentangle but that is what it reminded me of and I love it!!

So I went on google and watched some you tube vids and decided to have a go.....well why not!!

This is what I came up with!I'm quite pleased with this! I obviously need some practise as this is literally my first ever attempt!! Me being me I couldn't just go for a plain old square like the you tube videos said you should start with :-P What do you guys think?? I'm deffo going to be trying this one again!!

So there you have it!! On to next week!! Man have you seen the colour?? I CAN NOT WAIT!! It's REEEEEDDDDDD! Totally my fave colour ever in the world :-D

Summer Of Colour: Baseball Nut (Fail)

Hi everyone :-)

It was a close call as to weather I was going to get this weeks Summer Of Colour done!! I had real trouble coming up with anything and the thing I did do in the end looks nothing like the Baseball Nut ice cream picture that was posted :-( I was going to do another ATC but I decided to use my Moleskine in the end!

I feel the need to apologise for this :-S I mean really, what does this have to do with baseballs or nuts?? :-P On the plus side I like the effect I got by just outlining the ice cream in the middle and i love the swirly background!! The colours don't show up great but the pinks are supposed to be the sauce that swirls through the ice cream and the yellow is the vanilla! I chose yellow because vanilla to me screams cream and I don't do cream haha!! It kind of looks like a mishmash of sherbet rainbow and mint choc chip......... I used coloured pencils and a black marker on this! I love colouring with pencils although the ones used here were quite cheap and not blendable at all :-P

I have yet to look on the Twinkle Twinkle blog for the next colour prompt but I am excited! I'm hoping I can pull something a bit better out of the bag this time!! I'm just off to look at all the other fab pieces of art :-D See you at the other side!!

Summer of Colour (Mint Choc Chip)

Hey everyone! So to week two of the Summer Of Colour Challenge! This weeks prompt was Mint Choc Chip (my fave flavour of ice cream might I add)! I must be honest I found this one very hard! I don't know if it was because I've been having one of THOSE weeks so my brain just wouldn't switch on!! Anyway I went literal with this one so I should introduce to you.......

Mr Cool Mint.

I used my pro markers to colour him in! I'm not sure I really like the blue background but it fits in with the Mr Cool Mint theme ha ha!! I've never done an ATC before and I found it hard to put any extra detail on him :-S All in all I like the idea but I think it could have been done a little better!! Also I think his choc chips look a bit like acne hahaha!!

Oh well I tried something new which was fun, and I will deffo be doing more ATC's in the future! So on to next weeks colour.....I can't wait to find out what it is!!

In other news, my lovely friend Carmen sent me a gift.....I will write a special post about that....but I just wanted to say thank you to her.  We only "met" quite recently but I like to think we have become good friends :-)

Summer of Colour 2 (rainbow sherbet)

Whilst perusing my friend Carmen's fab blog (whoopidooings) I came across a post she did about The summer of colour 2! Now I've never heard of this but having read about it here and followed the links I have now decided that I will totally give this a go!!

You can find out all about it at Twinkle Twinkle but basically there will be a colour prompt each week and you make some art based on that colour and post it on your blog! I believe the colours will be based on ice cream flavours (yum I LOVE ice cream!).  You can do any art form that you like, I'm hoping to mix it up a little and do a couple of different ones but who knows what will happen when I get going :-)

This weeks colour was RAINBOW SHERBET (seriously the picture of this ice cream looks so nice I could lick the screen ha ha). I'll be honest I didn't quite get my piece finished but I wanted to post it in time so I have taken a picture of the almost finished piece!!

You can't see the colours so well on this photo but this is the best natural light I could find (damn you rain!!)! I decided to do knitting for my first piece as i had the perfect wool and my friend is after a pair of baby booties so i can kill two birds with one stone :-P The one on the right hasn't be sewn together hence why it looks giant compared to the other one!! I love this wool as it is self striping! This has had an interesting effect on the booties.....each bootie is slightly different colours :-P I'm hoping this will be seen as quirky ha ha!!

I really can't wait to see what next weeks colour is :-D I also can't wait to look at everyone lovely RAINBOW SHERBET stuff!! Let's face it, with weather like this we deffo need a summer of colour!!!
